Guide to the Records of the Dartmouth College, Senior Officers' Council, 1982 - 1985Manuscript DA-194

Introduction

Created in 1982 as an advisory body for President McLaughlin, the Senior Officers' Council consisted of those members of the Dartmouth administration who reported directly to the president. The Council met approximately twice a month to discuss current issues concerning the College. The Council's responsibilities were to work toward consensus, solutions and potential policies, and to consider items for meetings of the Board of Trustees. In function and purpose, the Senior Officers' Council was similar to the President's Advisory Committee which was active during the administration of John Kemeny.
