Guide to the Records of the Dartmouth College, Committee on Student Residence, 1933 - 1955Manuscript DA-265

Introduction

As a result of a vote in October 1933 of the Trustees of Dartmouth College, the President appointed a committee to make regulations affecting all places of student residence including dormitories, fraternity houses, and off-campus rooms. Standards concerning square footage per person, light and sanitary provisions were among the issues addressed by the Committee. The Trustees' vote also prohibited any student from rooming at any place which was not approved by the Committee on Student Residence.
