Introduction to the Collection

The oral history interview with Karl Furstenberg is comprised of audiocassette and digital recordings and a transcript of the recordings. The interview was conducted by Mary Donin on December 9, 2008. The entire interview runs for approximately two and a half hours and covers his career and the changes in admissions and financial aid at Dartmouth.

Biography

Karl Furstenberg served as director of admissions and dean of admissions and financial aid from 1990 until his retirement in 2007. He also served for a period of time as associate provost for planning, overseeing the Office of Institutional Research and as adviser to the provost.
