BiographyEdward J. Shanahan was born on July 21, 1943. He holds a BA from St. Joseph's College, an MA from Fordham University and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin. He was dean of students at Wesleyan from 1972 to 1982 before coming to Dartmouth in 1982 as dean of the college. He left Dartmouth in 1991 to become head of the Choate Rosemary Hall School. THe interview was conducted by Daniel Daily on March 27, 2002.
