Biography

Andrew Wallace was born on March 22, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio. He entered Duke University in 1953 and earned his BS and MD degrees in 1958. Dr. Wallace spent thirty-seven years at Duke, serving in various capacities, including professor, chief of cardiology and, beginning in 1980, CEO of Duke University Hospital. He was hired as Dean and VP for Health Affairs at Dartmouth in 1990. Dr Wallace retired from Dartmouth in 1998.

Scope and Contents of Collection

The oral history interview of Andrew Wallace is comprised of audiocassette recordings and an indexed transcript of the recordings. The interview was conducted by Daniel Daily on September 23, 2002. The entire interview runs for approximately three hours and covers his deanship of Dartmouth Medical School.
