Introduction to the Collection

The papers of John M. (Moffat) Mecklin (Mechlin) contain correspondences, newspaper clippings, publications, and reviews. Primarily documents his academic career at Lafayette and Dartmouth Colleges.

The correspondence includes letters from E.D. Warfield of Lafayette College; A.P. Camphor, President of the Central Alabama Institute, 1914; and Ernest M. Hopkins, President of Dartmouth College;

Of special note, includes a written reaction to Mecklin's book "Democracy and Race Friction" by a former African educator and Liberian missionary. Also, contains autobiographical letters from Ernest Hopkins detailing Hopkin's relationship with his father.
