Series 1, Correspondence, 1918-1992

Contains correspondence with writers and friends including Robert Benchley, Thomas Mann, Billy Wilder, Charles Brackett, Katherine Hepburn, Bennett Cerf, Norman Corwin, Homer Croy, Hume Cronyn, Ross Evans, Marion Fabry, Ira Gershwin, Laura Hobson, Irving Lazar, Howard Lindsay, Archibald MacLeish, Robert Nathan, Dorothy Parker, Maurice Rapf and Dorothea and Roger Straus. Correspondence with his literary agents at Brandt & Brandt and Farrar & Rinehart, as well as family correspondence with his brother, Frederic, and his wife, Rhoda, are also included.

Series 2, Manuscripts, 1920-1974

Contains typescript drafts, notes, fragments and galley proofs of short stories, essays, and books by Charles Jackson, including "The Lost Weekend" and "A Second Hand Life." Manuscripts for radio adaptations, radio plays and book reviews as well as notebooks are also included.

Series 3, Photographs, circa 1906-1966

Contains family photographs of Charles Jackson, his wife Rhoda and his children Sarah and Kate, as well as publicity shots by Ilse Bischoff, Paul Cordes and United Press International Photos. Photographs with Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett taken in Hollywood in the 1940s are also included.
