Hudson in England; a scrapbook with Shrubsall's published articles; hand drawn maps of England showing Hudson's rambles; photographs and negatives; research correspondence; annotated photocopies of letters to Hudson and reviews of Shrubsall's works.

Biography

Dennis Shrubsall (1918-2008) was born in Bristol, England and moved to Australia at 19 to Jackaroo on a ranch in North Queensland. He served in Papua New Guinea and Malaya in WWII and later served in Punjab in the Indian Military before independence. After his return to Australia and the army he served with the British in Germany and England. He retired in 1965 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After his retirement from active military duty Shrubsall settled with his wife in England and authored a number of books on W.H. Hudson and worked in a civilian capacity for the military.
