Dwight Foster (1757-1823). Congressman and Senator from Massachusetts. Contains 17 letters from Benjamin J. Gilbert, a Hanover, NH Lawyer and supporter of Dartmouth College. The letters discuss conditions at Moor's School, family, international relations (particularly related to the XYZ affair), Senator William Blount's impeachment, the Griswold-Lyon brawl and fallout and Thomas Jefferson's election to the presidency.
