Edward P. Sine (1929-1993), investment analyst and collector. Dartmouth College Class of 1951. The collection consists of papers related to his collection of drawings and illustrations by the Brock brothers and Hugh Thomson.

Introduction to the Collection

The papers of Edward P. Sine contain correspondence, bookplates, want lists, have lists, and two typescripts, "H.M. Brock's Fairy Tales" and "Hugh Thomson: An Appreciation." The material is related to Sine's collection of drawings and illustrations by Charles E., Henry M., and Thomas Brock, as well as Hugh Thomson. Correspondents include Richard E.B. Sawyer, C.M. Kelley, Barbara N. Scott and Louisa Smith.

Biography

Edward Paul Sine was born on December 3, 1929, in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1951, and from Columbia University with an MBA in 1953. After graduation Sine joined Arnold Bernhardt and Company as an investment analyst. He held this position until 1967, when he became self-employed. Sine was a collector of Victorian era illustrated books and drawings which he bequeathed to Dartmouth College in honor of Herbert Faulkner West. Sine died on May 28, 1993 at the age of 63.
