Biography

Robert F. Langley was born circa 1901 in Massachusetts. From 1924-1934 Langley served as Athletic Director at the Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, MA. Eaglebrook credits him with being the "father of Eaglebrook skiing" as he established the first ski club. From 1935-1943 Langley continued his career in education and served as the principal and 8th grade teacher at the Margery A. Rice School in Holden, MA. Throughout his life Langley was involved in various organizations: Most notably the National Ski Association of America (currently United States Ski Association USSA) where he served as president and the Grand Commandery, Knights Templar Presiding Council Club of Western, MA. Langley died in 1986. He was entered into the U.S. Skiing Hall of Fame in 1958 and the Canadian Skiing Hall of Fame in 1986.
