Oren G. Colby was a member of Company D, 12th Regiment New Hampshire V (Volunteers?)

He was wounded in the arm in battles fought on June 3rd and 4th, no year given

The letters of Oren G. Colby [10 January 1863-28 March 1864] 21 letters to family from Point Lookout, Maryland. Letters contain requests for particular items or goods, discussion of items or monies being sent home, and general questions about home and family. Letters of interest in the collection notes guarding about a thousand Rebel prisoners and discussing plans for a fence and guard posts for the camp. One letter also notes Oren's 18th birthday.
