Introduction to the Collection

The papers of Lionel J. Couture contain 345 letters to his family from his time as a private in Company B, 8th Infantry of the US Army during World War II. They are sent from various military bases around the country and the European theater.

Biography

Lionel "Abie" J. Couture from Concord, New Hampshire joined Company B of the 8th Infantry of the US Army in 1941. He shipped out to Europe in 1944.
