Introduction to the Collection

The papers of Dennis A. Dinan are comprised of correspondence to and from Dinan and newspaper clippings relating to his resignation as editor of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine in September of 1982.

Biography

Dennis Dinan was born on October 29, 1938 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He entered Dartmouth as a member of the class of 1961 and returned to Dartmouth in 1967 to work as assistant secretary of the College. He coordinated continuing education programs for the College, including Alumni College, until May, 1973, when he was appointed the seventh editor of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine He resigned from that position in September, 1982, following a dispute over the editorial independence of the magazine.
