Introduction to the Collection

The oral history interview with M. Lee Pelton is comprised of audiocassette and digital recordings and a transcript of the recordings. The interview was conducted by Mary Donin on September 22, 2008. The entire interview runs for approximately two hours and covers his years as dean of the college at Dartmouth and his relationship with President James Freedman.


Lee Pelton is a graduate of Wichita State University and holds a Ph.D. in English from Harvard University. He was Dean of the College from 1991 to 1998. He served as President of Willamette University and is currently president of Emerson College.
