F. William Andres was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1906 and attended Phillips Exeter Academy prior to enrolling at Dartmouth as a member of the Class of 1929. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1932 and spent his law career at the firm of Sherburne, Powers and Needham. As an alumnus, he served as secretary and president of his class, a member of the Alumni Council, and secretary and then president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Greater Boston. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1963 and served as chairman of the board from 1972 to 1977 when he retired from the Board. He received the Alumni Award in 1963. Mr. Andres died on August 4, 1992.
