Guide to the Papers of Malcolm McLane, 1943 - 2008Manuscript MS-1051


Malcolm McLane (1924-2008), DC class of 1946. Served in Air Force in WWII and was shot down in the Battle of the Bulge becoming a prisoner of war for the remainder of the war. After the war McLane graduated from Dartmouth and became a Rhodes Scholar in 1948 and then graduated Harvard Law school in 1952. In 1952 McLane became a lawyer with Orr and Reno, Concord, NH - eventually becoming president of the firm. McLane's interest in politics resulted in his becoming mayor of Concord, NH (1970-1976) and a candidate for Governor in 1972. McLane was also instrumental in the founding of Wildcat Mountain Ski area in Pinkhams Notch, NH.
