George Dock, Jr. (1895-1971), Dartmouth College class of 1916. Dock joined two other Dartmouth graduates (Carlton Ames Potter and Lyman Burgess) in 1916 in sailing for France to join the American Ambulance Field Service. In June 1917 Dock entered flight school for entry into the American stocked Lafayette Flying Corps. Dock was twice decorated with the Croix de Guerre for his actions in the war.

Dock spent his professional career in advertising, working for the New York firms of Doremus and Co., Albert Frank - Guenther Law, Inc., Halsey Stuart and Compton Advertising. Dock was a recognized authority on ornithology and authored numerous articles and publications on John James Audubon and birds in general.
