Born June 8, 1933. Received a B.A. from Harvard, Class of 1955. Servd in the Army. Completed graduate work in political philosophy at the University of Chicago, where he wrote his doctoral dissertation on Rousseau under the direction of Professor Leo Strauss and Professor Joseph Cropsey (M.A. 1958, Ph.D 1961).
