In 1925, Dartmouth College decided to discontinue compulsary daily chapel attendance and published their reasons in the October 23, 1925, issue of the Dartmouth College Bulletin. In response, Henry Melville, Secretary of the Class of 1879, wrote a letter to Russell R. Larmon, editor of the Bulletin, expressing his disapproval of the change, and sent copies of this letter to other class secretaries. Collection consists of the resulting exchange of correspondence with Trustees, alumni and the College president.
