Edmund B. Dearborn letters, circa 1826 - 1847Manuscript MS-1290


Edmund Batchelder Dearborn was born on November 28, 1806, in Hampton, New Hampshire. He graduated from Hampton Academy, after which he spent many years teaching in different parts of New Hampshire, including Marblehead, Pierce Academy in Middleboro, Massachusetts and Chapman Hall School. After he retired from teaching, Dearborn worked for the United States Internal Revenue Service. He also wrote many articles for literary newspapers in Boston and was elected Librarian of the New England Historic Genealogical Society in 1846. Dearborn died on January 22, 1886 in Boston.
