Stephen Gordon Nash was born on April 4, in New Hampton, New Hampshire. He graduated form Dartmouth College in 1842. While at Dartmouth he found the Tri-Kappa society with a classmate. After graduation he taught at New Hampton and Noyes Academy in Franklin, NH while studying law with George Nesmith. Nash was admitted to the bar in Massachusetts in 1846. In 1855, he was appointed justice of the Suffolk County Superior Court. He retired from the court in 1859, and returned to private practice. He spent the following year traveling in Europe. In 1872, Nash moved to Lynfield Center where he died on May 1, 1894.
